City Baseball by Liz Rosenberg
We did pub trivia last night and there were innumerable baseball games on TV, so I thought I’d post this poem I read in Celebrating America.
City Baseball
By Liz Rosenberg
Crazy as white shines in summer—
shoes slapping at dusk
like fast-moving lamps—
that’s how the pitcher looks
in his white shirt, almost a grown man,
winding up the ball.
And for one
minute the children
swing at it—
under the laundry-flapping sky.
