Mrs Icarus by Carol Ann Duffy

I’m on a tight schedule today, so here’s one that’s short and sweet.

Mrs Icarus
By Carol Ann Duffy

I’m not the first or the last
to stand on a hillock,
watching the man she married
prove to the world
he’s a total, utter, absolute, Grade A pillock.

I love this one! It’s great when a poem can make you laugh, for me it doesn’t happen too often. Didn’t Carol Ann Duffy also write the poem about Mrs. Darwin?
Do you know if there are any other Mrs. _____ poems?

If you click on the Carol Ann Duffy tag, you can see all the poems of hers that I’ve posted. The “Mrs __________” poems are from her collection entitled The World’s Wife, which I got for Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed. I’ve marked a bunch to post in the future…

I read a review of it…apparently Queen Kong has a poem in there somewhere, do you think you could post it? I don’t know if I can wait to read that one.

Ah, but I do try not to post the same poet more often than each month. Otherwise it would be all Edna, all the time. Queen Kong is in the queue.

It’s going to be a long wait, I’m going to have to see if I can get my hands on it before then…
