Walk Slowly by Adelaide Love
I couldn’t really find a poem to reflect my mood (since I’m tired), but I like this poem anyway.
Walk Slowly
By Adelaide Love
If you should go before me, dear, walk slowly
Down the ways of death, well-worn and wide,
For I would want to overtake you quickly
And seek the journey’s ending by your side.
I would be so forlorn not to descry you
Down some shining highroad when I came;
Walk slowly, dear, and often look behind you
And pause to hear if someone calls your name.

it is a lovely poem indeed. I would like to find out more about the writer such as date of birth and whether she is still alive.
any information to find out would be gratefully received.

Ann,
I don’t really have any information about Adelaide Love. I found that poem in The Best Loved Poems of the American People, but a cursory Google search doesn’t really turn anything up about the poet.
